Mahendra Singh Dhoni might lose his Test captaincy and Virender Sehwag may succeed him as fallout of the back to back overseas Test debacles in England and Australia, according to reports.
India lost the Test series in England and Australia in the past seven and a half month with the score line reading 0-4 in both the cases.
Apparently, Dhoni’s statement regarding quitting Tests altogether made during the Australian Test series hasn’t gone down well with the BCCI officials and reports of rift among the World Cup winning captain and
Sehwag are being considered as the main reason behind the speculations over the Test captaincy debate.
The idea of changing the reins of the Test team is just one of the many doing the rounds among the BCCI top brass along with the phasing out of the seniors. However, this doesn’t amount to Dhoni quitting captaincy in other forms as well. He might remain the ODI and T20 captain.
An Australian daily had reported divide among the Indian cricketers during the Test series saying there is a hierarchy among the seniors and juniors and Sehwag is the polarizing factor in the Indian dressing room.
According to a report, Sehwag is believed to be having differences of opinion with Dhoni over several issues right from the selection to field placing and this is being considered as the main reason behind his poor form in the Australian series.
