There is a notion in general that Tamil audiences like more raw kind of flicks and ready to watch experimental flick while Telugu people are a bit adamant with these stuff. But, this top director is proving that it is wrong.
When ace director Shankar made an off-beat sensational flick BOYS long back, the film turned a dud in Tamil. In Telugu arena, the film went on to run for a successful 80 days show and fetched profits for the producers. When Shankar made SHIVAJI with Rajnikanth in the lead, the Tamil audiences felt it as a redundancy of 'corruption' flicks from the director. The film was just an average grosser in Tamil and it went on to become a blockbuster in Telugu and Hindi. Now, same is the case with Shankar's NANBAN, but the result is reversed.
This time, Tamil audiences are enjoying every bit of this '3IDIOTS' carbon-copy while Telugu people are showing no interest for the 'copy'. It is heard that only 50% theatre occupancy rate is there for this movie so far. A noted cine-observer stated that, Audience pulse depends upon the kind of flick these makers are making and it is not that they are ready to watch experimentation. Let us see how our so-called big directors will satisfy the audiences of Tollywood.
